RION KL-22 is an airborne particle counter that is designed to accurately measure the concentrations of particulate matter in the air. It utilizes the Coulter Principle to measure sizes, shapes, counts and size distributions for various particulate matter. KL-22 is able to detect particles in the size range from 0.03 to 25 μm in count per cubic inch (CPCI). It is equipped with two optical channels and two separate sensors, one for measurement of particles from 0.03 to 0.30 μm and the other for particles from 0.30 to 25 μm. RION KL-22 is capable of communicating with a data acquisition system (DAS) for data storage and analysis. It consists of an internal microcontroller and a detachable terminal for communication with the DAS. The microcontroller has an on-board processor, memory and communication interface that allow users to set the measurement parameters along with the calibration value to ensure accuracy of the data. The terminal is connected to KL-22 through a USB or Ethernet connection and utilizes the RS-232 protocol to transfer data. RION KL-22 has been designed with a dust-proof, dust-resistant construction and has a low noise level. The device has an adjustable elevation and a low leakage detection system that prevents the leakage of dust through the device. The device has automatic zero correction and an internal zero adjustment mechanism to maintain accuracy. KL-22 includes a software package for data analyses and data collection, as well as for setting parameters and calibrating the device. The software uses an intelligent sampling and processing system for data collection and analysis. The package includes tools for visualization of data, and all data can be exported to various external applications for further examination and analysis. RION KL-22 provides reliable and repeatable measurements in various environmental applications such as indoor air quality assessment, ambient air pollution monitoring, occupational health and safety, epidemiological studies, and environmental research. The device is also suitable for monitoring of clean rooms and other regulated areas requiring particle concentration control. The device is widely used in medical, industrial, and pharmacological laboratories, and is widely accepted as one of the best particle counters available.
