Prober.
SEMICS Opus III is a non-contact, surface electrical measurement (SEM) prober developed by SEMICS Inc. It is designed to measure surface electrical properties at high speed. It is suitable for volume production, R&D and low-cost prototyping of semiconductors, MEMS, LEDs and other similar products. Opus III is powered by a Motorized Focus Unit and Probing Microscope. The Focus Unit consists of a vertical and a horizontal motor for measuring the substrate surface topography. The microscope houses a proprietary CCD camera, which allows the operator to view the measurement results in real time. The accuracy of the probe depends on the accuracy of the focussing system. SEMICS Opus III is equipped with a PC-controlled Digital Actuator and Vacuum Pump. The actuator moves the actively-controlled scanning probe to the targeted areas to measure the sample surface. The Vacuum Pump allows for accurate sample positioning and secure and reliable handling. Opus III has a dynamic range of 0.5 nm to 30 µm and can operate at speeds of up to 4 Hz. The device also has an automated Acousto-Optical Deflection (AOD) for high-speed, precision measurements. The AOD works with a high-speed scan module to automatically control the probe movement. SEMICS Opus III features both current and voltage measurement amplifiers. It has a variety of modes of operation including Constant Voltage, Constant Current, Constant Resistance, Peak, and Voltage-Dependent resistor (VDR). These modes can be used for various surface electrical measurements such as Sheet Resistance, Contact Resistance, Leakage Current, Breakdown Voltage, Capacitance, and Dissipation Factor. Overall, Opus III is a non-contact, surface electrical measurement prober that offers high accuracy and high speeds while still maintain the accuracy of the focus system. With its automated AOD and a variety of measurement modes, it is an ideal tool for production processes, R & D, and low-cost prototyping of semiconductors, MEMS, LEDs and other similar products.
