Fluorescence spectrophotometer.
HEWLETT-PACKARD / AGILENT Cary Eclipse is a Variable Angle Polarization Spectrometer (VAPS) designed for high throughput applications and used to measure the complex optical properties of a sample using in-parallel simultaneous measurements. The equipment has two illumination sources: a white light source and a laser, which are combined and directed onto a sample, allowing for measurements and analysis of the polarization properties of the light that is reflected or transmitted. The system has an outstanding signal to noise ratio and incorporates a detection scheme which offers superior spectral resolution, improved stability and allows for certification. The VAPS consists of an integrating sphere, spectrometer, beam homogenizer, sample holder, and a microprocessor based controller. The integrating sphere provides uniform illumination of the sample under test allowing for accurate transmission and reflectance measurements. The spectrometer is used for measuring the angle-dependent spectrum of the beam transmitted and reflected from the sample when illuminated with various polarization states. The beam homogenizer ensures that the light illuminating the sample is evenly distributed and that the reference and sample polarization states are known. Finally, the sample holder allows for rotation of the sample during measurements. AGILENT Cary Eclipse can be used to measure optical constants such as dielectric constant, refractive index, linear birefringence, refractive anisotropy, magnitude of anisotropy, optical rotary dispersion, absorption constant, scatterings, linear optical rotation, circular dichroism, and second order elastic constants. In addition, the unit offers PC-based software for capturing, processing, and analyzing the measurement data. The software includes features such as data import and export capabilities, graphical display, data analysis, sample fitting, sample report preparation, and 3D visualization, making it easy to customize user interface according to individual requirements. HEWLETT-PACKARD Cary Eclipse is capable of making measurements in the visible and near-infrared regions, from 400 to 1100nm. The machine is designed for use in industrial, research, and development laboratories as well as in production environments. It is also suitable for providing critical materials optical characterization for a variety of applications such as advanced optics, optoelectronics, biomedical optics, and solar cell characterization.
