LC Mass spectrometer.
WATERS / MICROMASS LCT MkII is a liquid chromatography time-of-flight mass spectrometer (LC-TOFMS) equipment used in a variety of chemical development and research applications. The MkII version is a high-resolution, accurate-mass (HRAM) spectrometer that offers a highly sensitive and precise data acquisition capability in a wide range of conditions. The system couples a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) component with the mass analyzer, allowing accurate separation and characterization of complex and large molecules in both their positive and negative ionization modes. The MkII is equipped with an electrospray ionization source (ESI) and dynamic Multi-Mode source (MMS) for fast and efficient sample introduction. The ESI source delivers stable and intense analyte ions for mass resolution, whereas the MMS allows for dynamic switching between positive and negative ionization modes. Additionally, the unit utilizes a differential turbo pump to supply high-performance HPLC solvents with optimized sample delivery to the mass spectrometer. The pressure of the sample delivery machine is easily adjustable and therefore can be tailored to the needs of the user's experiment. The mass analyzer used in WATERS LCT MkII is a high-resolution, accurate-mass TOF that provides single-digit mass accuracy (<5 ppm) and industry-leading mass resolution (90,000FWHM at m/z 200). This means it is capable of providing both high measurement specificity as well as high mass accuracy. Its advanced optics tool also offers sub-µm lateral position resolution, allowing for precise and accurate positioning of the laser for collision-induced dissociation (CID). The asset has an additional charge detector for the accelerated ions, thereby allowing for the characterization of both protonated and deprotonated ions. Finally, MICROMASS LCT MkII has an intuitive user interface designed to maximize the efficiency of the user's workflow. This includes a single-reflected analyzer that simplifies the interpretation of the spectra, as well as an intuitive software-toggle between mass spectrometry and LC-based experiments. All of these features make LCT MkII an ideal model for scientists and are used in applications such as metabolite analysis, proteomics, small molecule development and proteases assays.
