PHILIPS / FEI Quanta 200 is a scanning electron microscope (SEM) designed for the visualization and analysis of a wide variety of biological, medical and materials specimens. It provides high resolution imaging with its in-column Schottky field emission gun and powerful energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) detector. FEI Quanta 200 operates by accelerating a beam of electrons at a specimen mounted in the vacuum chamber. When the electrons interact with atoms in the specimen, a range of signals is emitted which is then analyzed by the detector. PHILIPS Quanta 200's Schottky field emission gun has an accelerating voltage of 20 to 30 kV and is capable of producing beam currents of up to 10 nA. This makes it ideal for high-resolution imaging of small features. Quanta 200 is also equipped with a sophisticated charge-coupled device (CCD) camera, which allows for high-fidelity imaging. PHILIPS / FEI Quanta 200 is also capable of performing simultaneous EDX analysis. It is equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) detector that has an octahedral design that increases its collection efficiency and minimizes the dead time associated with the detection process. It is also capable of the full range of integrated EDX and SEM signal analysis with a range of software capabilities. What really sets FEI Quanta 200 apart is its robust specimen handling capability. It features an automated focusing and sample navigation system that minimizes operator fatigue and increases accuracy in sample movement. It also has a built-in view finder for convenient specimen examination and an automated specimen changer which is capable of quickly exchanging specimens.
