TEL / TOKYO ELECTRON P-8XL is a high-end prober designed to provide accurate testing and scribing for multiple wafers and substrates. It is a stand-alone equipment that is capable of probing and scribing a large variety of devices composed of various materials such as silicon, germanium, GaAs and many others. It is the ideal tool for characterizing semiconductor devices and integrated circuits, as well as inspecting and verifying the functionality of discrete components, integrated circuits, and sub-assemblies. TEL P8XL is designed on a linear mechanical platform and has two main components, the prober system and the substrate, both of which interact during operation. The prober unit works by scanning the substrate and searching for electrical connections. When a connection is found, the prober machine then probes it and records the data. If there are no connections, it continues to the next substrate. The prober tool is equipped with multiple laser probes, four optical sensors, and a unique distributed optical beam imaging asset. This model is responsible for detecting any electrical connection present on the fault areas of the substrate and probing those connections. The beam imaging equipment also records the signal parameters such as amplitude, frequency, and signal-to-noise ratio for the data analyzed. The prober system can also be used for scribing. It has an intelligent scanning control unit that is programmed to program matrices onto the substrate being tested. It can also accurately capture the mechanical and electrical parameters associated with the scribed matrices. The machine offers an unprecedented ability to probe and scribe multiple substrates in one go. It also offers protection from electrical variations and mechanical jitter due to its unique optical distributed sensing and beam imaging tool. Additionally, its very high accuracy and repeatability, combined with its customizable detectors and probes make it suitable for use across multiple industries including, semiconductor, medical, automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics and many more.
