TheHitachi HITACHI S-9220 is a scanning electron microscope (SEM) that is widely used for high-resolution observation and analysis of the surface topography of materials. It is capable of providing accurate measurements down to the nanometer level. HITACHI S9220 uses a field emission gun (FEG) as its electron source, allowing it to achieve maximum primary beam current with low noise, low astigmatism, and excellent energy stability. As well as aspect and relief imaging, high-resolution element mapping is possible due to the built-in energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) system. In addition, digital image and spectral data acquisition, enhanced processing, and analysis capabilities increase the usefulness of S 9220. S9220 has an unparalled ability to combine high magnification (up to 500kX) with a large potential depth of field (up to 200 microns). This makes it ideal for capturing three dimensional images, and also for capturing the topography and morphology of both opaque and non-opaque samples. The resolution of the SEM is capable of capturing features as small as 1 nanometer, with both X-Y and Z axes fine focusing. It has an automatic turret style sample stage with up to 10 samples, and features a sample vision system through which various samples can be viewed prior to analysis. HITACHI S 9220 can be used with a wide range of accessories, including: detectors for secondary electrons, X-ray, and in-lens primary electrons; sample coating systems; cryostats; multiple beam electron guns; indenters and a host of other specimen preparation tools. The open architecture of S-9220 allows users to customize the system to suit both their specific requirements and budget. In terms of imaging, HITACHI S-9220 can display both high-contrast surface topography as well as semi-transparent electron micrographs. Its digital imaging menu makes it easy to take and store images, and advanced image processing functions such as contrast enhancement, colorization, and edge detection can be used to achieve even greater imaging fidelity. Overall, HITACHI S9220 is an advanced and versatile SEM that is well-suited for a variety of imaging and analysis applications, such as medical research, semiconductor device fabrication, and materials research. Its combination of high-resolution imaging, customizable options, and flexible accessories make it a powerful and reliable tool for researchers of all levels.
