K&S 1488 is a high-performance bonder specifically designed for plastic bonding applications. It is a two component system that combines a thermosetting epoxy and hardener into a single product. The epoxy is dispensed from an easy to use squeeze bottle, which makes it easy for technicians to apply an even coat on bonding areas. When 1488 is applied, it provides excellent adhesion to a variety of plastic substrate types including polypropylene, polyethylene, ABS, polycarbonate and acrylic. This is due to its high impact strength and flexibility, which make it ideal for use in a variety of plastic bonding applications. The bond remains secure even when exposed to hostile environmental conditions. For durability, K&S 1488 provides a silicone elastomer surface finish which is resistant to chemicals, weathering, vibration, and abrasion. 1488 offers excellent mechanical properties, with a shear strength of 2000−5000 psi. Additionally, the bond is resistant to shock temperatures up to 118°C (296°F). The product has a low exotherm rate of 0.15 watts/gram when applied correctly.
