HP 33220A is equipped with a 4-digit LCD for information display and a keypad allowing users to control its features. It is a two-channel signal source, with both channels having a wide range of amplitude control and independent performance. Its internal operations are accurate and very stable due to its uniquely designed controlling column synthesizer. This synthesizer offers low distortion and superior signal purity for sine, triangle, ramp, as well as arbitrary waveforms. Its pulse generation modes include Burst (continual gated/triggered pulse train), Ramp (consecutive positive/negative pulses), and Sine Burst (triggered pulse train with a sine wave form). Pulse parameters are adjustable in terms of their height, width, and delay. The unit also offers a wide range of modulation capabilities such as FM, PM, PWM, sweep and arbitrary waveform. In order to verify the accuracy of the instrument, factory calibration and built-in THD and non-linearity test parameters are also available. Its dedicated I/O ports allow external control and additional options, such as a temperature controlled frequency reference, audio input, pulse resolution, and frequency counter.
