AGILENT / HP / HEWLETT-PACKARD / KEYSIGHT 8481A Coaxial Thermistor Power Sensor is a precise electronic test equipment used to measure very low electrical power levels in multiple coaxial thermistor performance tests. It is typically used in laboratory applications to measure low dBm power levels from RF sources or signals. HP 8481A power sensor was designed specifically for measurements of low power levels for RF and microwave tasks. It includes separate thermistor and thermocouple devices to accurately measure both steady and pulsed devices. This power sensor offers very good temperature stability, high accuracy and excellent linearity. AGILENT 8481A is capable of measuring over a wide range from -75dBm to +30 dBm with the thermistor of 8481A being used for measurements below -70dBm. It is also capable of providing direct readout of the dBm, watts and mV. Additionally, a temperature monitor can be added to HEWLETT-PACKARD 8481A. This allows the user to measure the temperature of the device under measurement and the temperature of the force circulation box in which the device is placed. The temperature monitor also has a self-calibration cycle which is necessary to ensure accuracy. The power sensor has been designed with 4 connectors for an SMB jack, BNC jack, 25 ohm thermistor port and 1000 ohm thermistor port. The SMB jack is the input port for signal levels and is used for signal measurements up to the highest dBm. The 25 ohm thermistor port is used to measure the steady-state power-up to -75dBm-while the 1000 ohm thermistor port is used to measure pulse power levels with a maximum of -70dBm. KEYSIGHT 8481A also includes a variety of additional features such as cable-compensated measurements to account for the effects of cable loss incorporated with a unique digital interface system, displaying data in either readings or graphical form. Additionally, AGILENT / HP / HEWLETT-PACKARD / KEYSIGHT 8481A features an external HPIB computer interface for faster data upload. Overall, HP 8481A Coaxial Thermistor Power Sensor is an ideal electronic test equipment option for a variety of tasks such as RF power measurements, diagnostics and testing. It offers an extensive range, excellent temperature stability, high accuracy and precise linearity, making it well-suited for multiple applications.
