AGILENT / HP / HEWLETT-PACKARD / KEYSIGHT E8257D is a high-performance signal generator designed for the most demanding RF and microwave and signal generation requirements. It provides features such as broadband operation from 9 kHz to up to 26.5 GHz, high-performance internal synthesis, low phase noise and frequency hopping and wide frequency switching speed. This instrument offers superb flexibility for a variety of applications such as wideband signal source and time-domain analysis, narrow-band signal simulation, and manual optical and UHF test and measurement. HP E8257D has an internal wideband synthesizer based on Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) technology, producing CW signals with high spectral purity, wide level range, and low phase noise over a frequency range of 9 kHz to 26.5 GHz. It can generate signals up to +27 dBm (1 Watt) in 500 μs in a reference spur-free dynamic range (SFDR). An external varactor doubler is provided for narrow-band signal synthesis. AGILENT E 8257D also has capabilities such as pulse modulation with fine pulse shape control and pulse duration from 250 nanoseconds to as long as 8 microseconds. It offers frequency hopping to enable complex simulations of rapid signal interactions between RF/microwave transmitting and receiver systems. The frequency hopping can also be used to perform time-domain analysis of automotive and RFID systems, and random noise testing. High level signal fidelity is guaranteed by a low noise figure of -143 dBc/Hz, while phase noise performance of -113 dBc/Hz is provided for ENR. It offers wide frequency resolution and fast switching speed of up to 200 μs with its Frequency-Switched Loops (FSL) technique. Portable operation is also made possible by optional battery power supply and built-in USB and GPIB interfaces with lab management software. Finally, AGILENT E8257D provides deep customization of frequency, on-off times and pulse shape. It supports automated testing of aerospace, defense, and semi-conductor device testing using the latest production test and design systems. The onboard Soft Front Panel Interface provides intuitive and easy-to-use signal generation functions.
