Lock-in amplifier.
EG&G 5210 is a general purpose, precision electronic test equipment designed for accurate low-level electrical measurements. The unit uses a precision, direct-read capacitor bridge for measurements of capacitance and dielectric constant; and for measurements of lead inductance and resistance, it employs a precision, precision-tuned LC bridge. All of the calibrations involved in the measurement process are made directly on the panel; no external equipment is necessary. 5210 is a low-noise, low-distortion instrument for making accurate measurements in AC, DC, and AC/DC applications. It uses a two-step measurement technique, with an 8-bit resolution, and a switching speed of 25 kilocycles per second. EG&G 5210 has three measuring ranges: one for measuring resistance in the range of 0.1 to 3.5 ohms; one for measuring capacitance in the range of 0.01 to 35 picofarads (F); and one for measuring inductance in the range of 0.001 to 37 microhenries (H). 5210 has a variable reference voltage of 7 to 15 Volts, adjustable in .05 Volt increments with a built-in step-up voltage multiplier. It has a variable frequency response, accurately calibrated to ± 0.25 percent over the entire frequency range from 109 Hz to 1 KHz. The instrument is also equipped with an LED bar-graph display for monitoring peak reading, and a digital display for measuring AC and DC analog signals. The circuits are designed for maximum clearances and insulation of critical components. All circuits use plug-in printed circuit boards for simplified assembly. EG&G 5210 also has a switching range of 20 to 160 dB, with a voltage range of 0 to 1 Volt. It has a tri-color indicator LED which clearly indicates signal levels, over resolution, overload, and bad connections. The instrument is securely packaged in a sleek, lightweight aluminum housing for easy portability. It has a durable ABS plastic backing plate and all metal parts are painted in an attractive silver-gray enamel that also protects the enclosed circuitry. 5210 has a one-year limited warranty.
