JDSU OLA-15 is an electronic test equipment designed to characterise optical links connecting Passive Optical Networks (PON) components in order to maximize performance and reliability. It allows network operators to monitor PON links in real-time which enables a better understanding of Layer 1 performance, enabling faster service activation and faster fault isolation. OLA-15 features a 1550nm laser source and optical power meter. The laser source output is easily adjustable in either manual or automated scan modes. The output can be used to measure insertion loss/drop loss, enabling the network operator to assess the optical link quality and level of deployed splitter. JDSU OLA-15 also features a handheld probe for finding live fiber and allowing the network operator to remotely connect and disconnect live optical links. A feature called "Advanced Interference Analysis" ensures the network operator is able to identify sources of interference, such as RFI, thus enabling faster fault diagnosis and resolution. OLA-15 also includes a signal generator to allow the network operator to inject signals from 1550nm to 1650nm, thereby ensuring the optical power levels, signal to noise ratios and differential losses can be measured with precision. It also features an optical return loss meter which provides an indication of the physical return loss of the link as well as enabling the network operator to quickly identify fiber breaks at the customer premises. Designed for ease of use JDSU OLA-15 is a compact, lightweight instrument and features a 5.7" color touch screen. The instrument runs on a high speed, embedded processor, ensuring rapid and accurate data acquisition for real-time monitoring and fast fault diagnosis. In summary, OLA-15 is an ideal tool for managing and troubleshooting broadband connections. It provides comprehensive real-time link and network analysis, ensuring rapid fault isolation and superior customer experience.
