KEITHLEY 6514 is an electronic test equipment that enables precision current measurements from femtoamps to milliamps. It offers both highly sensitive, low-noise precision current measurements and faster, higher-speed measurements. The instrument has a 5-digit LED display. This digital display allows exact readings and changing of the measurement range in the same ratio as the LED display. Also, 6514 has three potentiometers that allow fine adjustment of the sense resistance and the voltage compliance setting. The instrument has excellent resolution through the use of a current-to-voltage converter circuit. This simulation circuit allows for a very high input impedance (over 200 megohms in parallel with 10 picofarads) of KEITHLEY 6514 input transistors. The low current-leakage circuit design of 6514 eliminates ground-pickup issues. This ensures accurate voltage reference. Additionally, KEITHLEY 6514 has a built-in noise filter circuit which attenuates the common-mode noise and reduces the settling time of the measurement circuit. This offers a better signal-to-noise ratio. 6514 has voltage compliance as a capability. This feature allows the user to specify a voltage limit so that any current measurement exceeding the voltage limit will disengage automatically. This helps prevent damage to the test setup by allowing measurements beyond the source voltage range without having to reset the measurement range. The safety circuits in KEITHLEY 6514 offer protection against overcurrents. The instrument includes both a current overflow detector and an overvoltage detector. If either detector is activated, an internal safety interlock disconnects the current sense terminals from the picoammeter circuit. This ensures safe measurements. 6514 is also compatible with the IEEE 488.2 plug-and-play bus protocol. This means that the instrument can be connected to an IEEE 488.2-compatible bus for data collection as part of an automated data collection system. KEITHLEY 6514 has been extensively tested, including EMI/RFI, mechanical shock, arc discharge, and extreme environment tests. This ensures accuracy and robustness of the instrument. 6514 offers a very wide range of current measurement capabilities and high noise immunity. It is an ideal instrument for applications requiring very precise current measurements, such as testing integrated-circuits, solid-state devices, and other components.
