FSIQ3 is an integrated system composed of a signal generator, a frequency synthesizer, and a high-precision oscilloscope, all capable of producing and measuring signals at the highest possible technical level. The signal generator produces multiple signal types including sinusoidal, triangular, square, stars, and pulse. The signal generator is capable of producing high frequencies, from few micro Hertz to 3GHz. Signal accuracy and stability can be maintained with the source frequency being controlled through an external frequency reference or an internal precision temperature compensated crystal reference. The signal generator also features a wideband input for generating signals from external sources. ROHDE & SCHWARZ FSIQ3 also features a high-precision frequency synthesizer, which can generate frequencies with a high level of precision and stability. The synthesizer is composed of a miniaturized reference oscillator and a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The VCO works in the range from 0 to 80MHz while the reference oscillator works in the range from 200MHz to 3GHz. Furthermore, the reference oscillator is temperature compensated and a unique temperature compensation circuit allows performance stability over wide temperature ranges. The synthesizer can also accommodate low-level and high-level pulse/noise signals. Finally, FSIQ3 is equipped with a high-resolution digital oscilloscope that automatically adjusts the frequency of the input signal so that the oscilloscope can measure it precisely. The oscilloscope features two analog channels, each with a frequency range from 50kHz to 3GHz. The oscilloscope is capable of measuring high frequency signals with a resolution of up to 250MHz. The instrument uses a signal processing technique called FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) for creating frequency spectra.
