The DLA also records voltage and current readings that arise from the lightning tests that are being performed. ROHDE & SCHWARZ UPL also contains an Automatic Lightning Event Calculator (ALEC), which is capable of calculating the lightning events and producing the necessary parameters for the user. The ALEC also takes readings from the Impulsers and Surge Generators modules to determine the impulse waveform parameters, standoff distances, incident and return stroke peak currents, peak voltages, and the surge waveform. In addition, UPL also features an Automated Sweep Tool (AST), which allows the user to perform lightning tests and simulations with pre-determined parameters, such as rise times, decay times, and fraction values. The AST also stores the test parameters in the memory, making it easier and faster to perform multiple tests without requiring manual adjustments.
