STANFORD RESEARCH SYSTEMS / SRS SR540 is an advanced electronic test equipment designed for high resolution current monitoring and signal analysis. This dual-channel instrument is powered by a 25 MHz 68000 microprocessor and features both direct frequency measurements as well as measurements across time and frequency domains. In terms of hardware design, SRS SR540 includes a 25 MHz high-speed DSP with up to 14 bits of dynamic resolution, and four range select settings with a full-scale deflection ranging from 0.5 pA to 20 mA. It also features variable bandwidth filters that can be adjusted between DC and 200 kHz. STANFORD RESEARCH SYSTEMS SR540 utilizes 12-bit A/D converter technology combined with ‟true" differential inputs, allowing for simultaneous measurements on both channels. Additionally SR540 has a unique API (Application Programming Interface) that can be used to accelerate development of custom applications as well as automating the operation of STANFORD RESEARCH SYSTEMS / SRS SR540. SRS SR540 has 3 main modes of operation each of which can be used for a wide variety of measurements. The unit can be used for Current-Voltage measurements, Voltage-Voltage measurements, or just basic signal monitoring/analysis. In current-voltage mode, measurements are possible between -20 mA and +20 mA at a range of resolution from 0.5 pA to 20 mA. Voltage-voltage measurements are possible between -5 V and 5 V at a range of resolution from 0.1 mV to 1 V. For basic signal monitoring/analysis, STANFORD RESEARCH SYSTEMS SR540 can be used for displaying waveforms or long-term trends and provides a frequency-domain display for viewing signals in the frequency domain as well as providing statistical analysis of these signals. SR540 offers easy integration into existing systems with both RS-232 and IEEE-488 GPIB interfaces. It also has front-end and back-end computer access, making complex and automated control of STANFORD RESEARCH SYSTEMS / SRS SR540 easy. SRS SR540 is able to be programmed using both SRS Custom programming, or with standard Visual Basic, C++ or other programming languages. STANFORD RESEARCH SYSTEMS SR540 also includes a wide range of external triggers that can be used for synchronizing measurements. SR540 is rugged and reliable, with a well-designed enclosure to protect against environmental conditions. It can withstand a variety of shock and vibration conditions. It also includes a range of safety features to protect against overvoltage conditions. All this makes STANFORD RESEARCH SYSTEMS / SRS SR540 a valuable asset both to academic and research laboratories as well as industry applications.
