TEKTRONIX 455 is an electronic test equipment developed by Amercian electronics manufacturer TEKTRONIX. It was released in the early 1970s as one of the first integrated test systems on the market. The system was designed to simplify the testing process for engineers, executives, and technicians. 455 was composed of four main components: a mainframe, a CRT plug-in, a time-base plug-in, and a voltage plug-in. The mainframe, or main cabinet, measured everything and dictated operations. It was composed of the input selector, a voltage divider, and a time base sweep generator. The CRT plug-in was the cathode ray tube display that provided a visual view of measurements. The time-base plug-in allowed the engineer to control the time base sweep. Finally, the voltage plug-in provided adjustable voltage input signals. TEKTRONIX 455 also had a set of features designed to make testing more efficient and accurate. The digital readout showed exact readings of the measurements, and the automatic vertical linearity adjustment helped to keep the display accurate. This allowed engineers to measure an already known voltage input signal accurately and easily. 455 was a mixed-mode instrument that could measure both analog and digital signals. It also had other measurement capabilities, such as frequency sweep, pulse width measurement, slew rate measurement, etc. It was a reliable and efficient tool for a large variety of applications such as product design validation, diagnostics, and development. TEKTRONIX 455 offered a variety of features for test and measurement in one integrated package. This electronic test system provided engineers with essential tools that allowed testing in a wide range of industries.
