TEKTRONIX FG507 is a frequency counter that is used to measure the frequency of an alternating current waveform or signal voltage. FG507 measures both AC and DC voltages that range from 400 mV to 7.5 V peak to peak. It also has a 16-digit precision counter that provides accurate and repeatable readings in a frequency range up to 1 GHz. TEKTRONIX FG507 has three modes of operation: Frequency, Time, and Burst Mode. In Frequency Mode, FG507 measures frequency from 0.1 Hz to 1 GHz, with a resolution of 1 Hz. In Time Mode, TEKTRONIX FG507 measures pulse widths from 0.01 µs to 10 s, with a resolution of 0.01 µs. Finally, in Burst Mode, FG507 can measure pulse widths from 0.01 to 3 s with a resolution of 0.01 µs , and cycle times to 9999 s with a resolution of 0.1 s. In addition, TEKTRONIX FG507 has a display that provides a readout of the selected function, and a numerical count that allows direct measurement of period and frequency. FG507 includes a counter mode, in which pulse widths and cycle times are counted during the presettime , and a hold mode, which is used to freeze the counter display (in either period/frequency or phase/duty cycle mode). TEKTRONIX FG507 provides an internal calibrator and an external generator input, which can be used to calibrate and adjust the instrument. It also features a low voltage detector that alerts the user to power or input conditions below the specified range. To improve accuracy and reduce measurement time, FG507 includes a number of user-selectable functions. These include an automatic power line rejection filter, variable scale overlap/reduce feature, and a system test which can be used to test the system for errors. Additionally, the counter includes a full set of low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass filtering functions. TEKTRONIX FG507 is a highly dependable instrument that is powered by an internal 12 V battery and is protected by an optional rack-mount option. As such, it is an ideal instrument for both laboratory and in-the-field measurements. The instrument is also designed to be easy to operate; its intuitive operator interface includes an alphanumeric display with adjustable contrast, a rotary dial and multiple front panel buttons for easy operation. The rear panel also features a series of BNC connectors for signal input and output, as well as an IEEE-488 communication port.
