RUDOLPH FE III Ellipsometer is an advanced spectroscopic instrument designed for surface studies. It is comprised of four optical heads, a controller, and a computer interface that work together to measure the optical properties of thin films and surfaces. The ellipsometer is built of an array of optical components including a light source, a set of detectors, polarizers, filters and a sample wheel that allow it to make precise measurements of the optical properties of a material, such as the film thickness, refractive index and optical extinction. The four optical heads make use of a He-Ne laser which is directed onto the sample surface. An integral element of the system is a polarization modulation assembly that is used to measure the angle of polarization changes resulting from the interaction between the light and the sample. The angle is then used to calculate the refractive index, optical thicknes, and extinction coefficient of the thin film. The main component of RUDOLPH FE III Ellipsometer is the controller which allows the user to view, modify and store the data for further analysis and experimentation. The controller makes use of a graphical user interface that displays information in a variety formats including graphical views, histograms and tables. Data is stored into a local or remote computer. RUDOLPH FE III Ellipsometer is the most advanced instrument of its kind, making it a great tool for thin film and surface structure studies. It provides high level accuracy and functionality in a single system making it highly efficient and cost effective for users in the industry.
