TERADYNE J973 is a final test equipment designed to complete the system test verification of complex components such as PCBs, modules, hybrids and other electrical test assemblies. It is specifically designed for testing high pin-count, densely integrated BGA and CSP parts. TERADYNE J-973 works by sending data to, and receiving test results from, each pin of a device and unit under test. J 973 is comprised of several main components, including a host computer, a control module, and a tester module. The host computer serves as the main interface for the operator, linking the user to the tester and control modules. The host computer for TERADYNE J 973 is an industrial-grade PC featuring a large, high-resolution monitor and a user-defined keyboard. The control module is essentially the host PC's link to the tester module. This is done by a cabling bus, consisting of an interface board, which contains an I/O chip, an addressable memory, and a power supply. The control module has its own internal memory, and is used to control the operations of the tester module, as well as to store and analyze the results of tests performed. The tester module is the heart of J973. It consists of a Headboard with a Test Access Mechanism (TAM) connector, one or more Diagnostic Test Cartridges (DTCs), cables, and a Power Supply. The Headboard is the point-of-test connection to the device under test. Test signals are sent from the Headboard to the device, and responses obtained from the device are sent back to the Headboard. The DTCs can be configured to include a range of factors such as pin count, memory size, I/O type, etc. The DTCs combine to create a receptacle for the device to be tested, allowing for pre-programmed test routines to be run on the device under test. J-973 is normally attached to a USB port on the PC to allow for easy updating of the test firmware/software. The PC's processor is also used to analyze the results of tests performed on the device. It is important to use TERADYNE J973 with compatible test cartridges, as older cartridges may not be compatible with newer firmware/software. TERADYNE J-973 is a powerful and reliable final test machine capable of testing a wide range of devices. It features an easy-to-use PC interface, and its modular design allows for customized test solutions. It is an ideal choice for undertaking tool test verifications on semiconductor assemblies, modules, hybrids and other electrical test instruments.
