TERADYNE Z 1800 Series is a final test equipment designed for today's high-volume production environments. It enables efficient test execution, fast time-to-market and high throughput by combining sophisticated test algorithms with a customer-configurable architecture. The system architecture comprises of a combination of hardware and software components that are modular and reconfigurable for custom applications integration. The Z 1800 is based on an Embedded Host Computer that facilitates the execution and control of all hardware and software components of the unit. This hardware includes Master Test Control (MTC) board, Test Interface Modules (TIMs) and expansion bays. Master Test Control (MTC) board is the main control machine of the tool. It contains a FPGA or a CPLD for asset control, an MCU for timing and synchronization, RAM and ROM for model data storage, and a host serial port connector. Test Interface Modules (TIMs) are the main test interface elements of the equipment, providing power and control to the external test modules. The expansion bays allow customer-specified expansion cards (3.3V, 5V and 12V) to be added for testing of high-power or high-speed devices. The software component of the Z 1800 System comprises of Test Station Software (TSS) and Test Editor Software (TES). Test Station Software (TSS) provides the programming and set-up functions for the whole unit. It enables the customer to define custom test patterns, load them into the device and access global test parameters. Test Editor Software (TES) provides a GUI environment for programming, editing and debugging the test patterns. Additionally, the TES also features a broad library of test functions and external devices compatibility. The Z 1800 machine can be used to test a variety of semiconductor integrated circuits (ICs), such as logic devices, memories, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), and digital signal processors (DSPs). The tool also supports a variety of test platforms, simultaneously executing tests on them in high-speed parallel mode. In addition, the asset is capable of performing a comprehensive range of tests, including boundary scan, In-Model Programming (ISP), In-Circuit Tests (ICT), Functional Tests (FCT), and Design Verification Testing (DVT). The equipment is designed for flexibility and ease of use, with a simple and intuitive user interface that allows for easier execution and management of tests. The Z 1800 system also supports multiple communications protocols, including SBus, Ethernet, USB and RS-232.
