COHU / MULTITEST MT 9900 / 9918 handler is an automated handler designed for sorting and loading of leaded and leadless components in a variety of sizes and shapes. The device features a dual track gantry arm mechanism and is capable of providing high-speed testing, sorting and loading of up to 4 lanes simultaneously. The handler features two feeding mechanisms which serve to facilitate initial board loading and feeding of components at up to 10,000 parts-per-minute (ppm). The two transport mechanisms employed by the handler are an inclined flat conveyor feeder and a vibratory escapement feeder. The inclined flat conveyor is used to transport the printed circuit boards(PCBs) up to the positioning zone before the components can be placed. The vibratory escapement feeder is used to place the components on the PCB. It also contains multiple sensors which detect the presence or absence of components as well as new or used parts on the PCB. MULTITEST MT 9900 / 9918 handler utilises a patented dual track gantry arm mechanism to ensure accurate placement of components. The gantry arms are able to move in one axis in two directions, allowing for a greater range of motion and robust motion control.
