APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS / ABI / HITACHI 3500 is a laboratory-grade DNA sequencing machine manufactured by ABI and HITACHI. This sophisticated instrument is specifically designed for rapid and accurate DNA sequencing for varied genomic and proteomic applications. With its advanced technology, ABI 3500 can provide large-scale sequencing and also offers a powerful portfolio of data analysis tools for powerful data interpretation. HITACHI 3500 is a high-throughput capillary electrophoresis instrument which enables high accuracy, high sensitivity and reproducible DNA sequencing and fragment analysis. It is equipped with 4 to 8 capillaries, each containing four sample lanes. This system also features an automated imaging capability and slot-in linear array detectors which provide better flexibility and accuracy. The component contains automated software that controls the sample loading, gel electrophoresis process and data analysis. For DNA sequencing, APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS 3500 uses advanced detergent technology to separate the amplicons generated by the sequencing RT-PCR process. The capillaries used have been developed to have higher levels of accuracy. Moreover, they are loaded with a specific dye matrix which allows for the simultaneous detection of four different sample peaks from the same gel. The accompanying software suite allows powerful data manipulation and interpretation. This includes a powerful data analysis package which allows for rapid and repeatable sequence assembly, peak calling and allele determination. In addition, the instrument is equipped with a highly specialized sequence mapping platform which can be used to identify polymorphisms, homozygous sites and haplotype blocks in large genomes. 3500 uses high-performance capillaries combined with an optimized gel matrix for DNA sequencing and fragment analysis. This combination of technologies provides unprecedented accuracy, sensitivity, and flexibility to the analysis of genomic and proteomic samples. These features allow APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS / ABI / HITACHI 3500 to be used in genome-level sequencing and characterizing of polymorphisms and small sequence variation as well as aiding in the identification of large-scale genetic variation associated with disease.
