BIO-RAD Gel Doc XR+ is an advanced imaging equipment designed to speed up and streamline the process of electrophoresis gel analysis. This system uses high resolution imaging for quick and accurate gel documentation, creating sharper images with speeds up to four times faster than standard imaging systems. It is equipped with specific features such as dual-laser scanning and advanced optics, aiming to facilitate the workflow of laboratories. The product includes a flexible transilluminator, which is able to accommodate several multichannel pipettes, mini-gels and even blots. Thanks to its powerful 16-bit sensor the transilluminator produces accurate and detailed photos efficiently, even in challenging conditions such as long gels and low-light environments. Moreover, the product features tools for lab documentation and the creation of permanent gel records, such as an integrated GelCompar II software with free data analysis and reporting tools. This software allows users to easily export gel images to common formats such as PDF and TIFF, or to third-party applications like Excel, facilitating the storage of results and the sharing of data with other labs. Gel Doc XR+ also features advanced lighting technology, allowing to illuminate the sample from above or below simultaneously and even control the intensity of the LEDs independently, depending on the type of gel. To guarantee a safe sample manipulation, the unit has an 'Automated Safe Analyses Machine' which protects users from UV radiation exposure and provides sample protection with a custom-made tray. The product includes a comprehensive range of accessories such as an adjustable sample tray, casting tray, power supply, fridge and voltage control, as well as a PC and a monitor. At full power, it needs only 85W, making BIO-RAD Gel Doc XR+ one of the most energy-efficient imaging systems available. Finally, due to its well-thought design and its compatibility with Windows OS, Gel Doc XR+ is able to fit in any type of laboratory.
