SPECTRA PHYSICS Opal BB OPO (Optical Parametric Oscillator) is a powerful, cost-effective, and reliable laser used in a variety of scientific and industrial applications. The OPO is a continuous wave tunable laser which produces both harmonic and Raman Stokes shifted output wavelengths through a non-linear process. This makes it especially suited for applications in nonlinear spectroscopy. The laser consists of an Nd: YAG master oscillator and a non-linear medium, which typically consists of a potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP) crystal. The light source is introduced to the crystal, where it experiences a small portion of the power being converted to second-harmonic field. Three quarters of the power remains in the fundamental wave, and should remain unchanged as it exits the non-linear medium. After passing through a series of optical filters and focusing elements, the infrared (IR) laser beam is divided into three separate components called the signal, idler and pump. The idler beam is the tunable output of the OPO, with a wavelength range from 360-1600nm that is suitable for a variety of applications such as infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and ultra-short pulse generating. The OPO design includes a multi-segmented output section, allowing for maximum efficiency of the otherwise-dispersive output beam. The system also includes a robust digital phase shifting feedback system, which ensures reliable, uninterrupted performance. Several additional benefits of Opal BB OPO include: a compact, air-cooled design; variable repetition rate up to 100Hz; linear polarized output; and high modulation bandwidth. SPECTRA PHYSICS Opal BB OPO is both reliable and robust, making it ideal for a variety of applications such as laser displays, laser additive manufacturing, medical diagnostics, air/water purification, laser spectroscopy, and laser machining of advanced materials. With its precise power control capability, high beam quality, and fast tuning times, SPECTRA PHYSICS OPO is one of the most powerful and cost effective lasers on the market.
