OKUMA LU15 is a horizontal bed type CNC machine tool designed for machining large parts up to 3000mm in length, 750mm in width and 500mm in height. It is constructed of heavy gauge cast iron and steel components to ensure rigidity and accuracy for a range of applications such as machining, grinding, boring, milling and tapping. Its spindle is a belt drive unit with a maximum speed of up to 4,500 revolutions per minute (RPM). It is driven by an 18kw direct drive motor and uses a servo control equipment to deliver the required power. The spindle is supported by a dual contact SKF V 'Unigrip' bearing which offers a quiet, vibration-free operation even at high speeds. The spindle is also designed to ensure quality cutting by providing a good balance between rigidity and cutting speed. The linear motion is provided by OKUMA Linear Motion Control System (LMCS) which features an absolute positioning function.
