BECKMAN COULTER Multisizer 3 is an advanced particle counter designed for rapid sizing and counting of particles in liquid-based samples. This system utilizes an innovative optical sensing technology, Flow Imaging Particle Counters (FIPC), to accurately detect and measure particles down to 0.3 microns in size. This specialized particle counter is based on a powerful PC platform and offers very fast and reliable sample processing and analysis. BECKMAN COULTER proprietary software, Viewer Drive, is used to run, analyze, and manage FIPC data. This software allows users to easily configure the machine for specific counting/sizing requirements, automate the sampling and analysis process, and plot particle size distributions in various forms, including cumulative and differential distributions. Multisizer 3 utilizes an adjustable particle counting nozzle which is connected to a hydrocyclone to allow for adjusting the range of particle sizes detected in a sample. An additional optical focusing system allows for adjusting the amount of light incident on sample particles and its scattering angles to obtain more detailed sizing information. Using a system of lasers and light detectors, BECKMAN COULTER Multisizer 3 detects and counts individuals particles suspended in liquid samples while simultaneously measuring the particle size by analyzing the light scattering patterns. Samples are continuously aspirated for optimal dynamic flow responses and can detect up to 5 different particle sizes simultaneously. Samples are aspirated at 500µL/min or higher and data is collected in 1-second intervals. Multisizer 3 is easy to setup and operate due to its intuitive PC software platform. It offers users an all-in-one particle size analysis solution which is ideal for a wide range of applications, including wastewater and process water treatment, public health, medical diagnostics, chemical and food safety, forensics, pharmaceutical testing, and more.
