ASM MTC2 is a PC board assembly and manufacturing equipment designed to streamline and automate the production of printed circuit boards (PCBs). This automated system features a conveyor-based assembly line with a conveyor loop and multiple stations that are used to perform various tasks including material picking, placement of components and soldering. The unit is capable of performing a variety of operations such as component pick-and-place, component inspection, solder reflow, wave soldering, and soldering parametric testing. ASM MTC 2 features an advanced conveyor machine, which is equipped with multiple stages for inspection, testing, and material transport. This conveyor tool includes a dual-drive continuous loop belt, dual loop and belt storage track- for the conveyor loop and the belt storage- and various dedicated conveyor substations. This substation is where all the components are picked up and placed onto the main conveyor. The material pick-and-place operations are performed by the placement heads mounted on linear actuators, motors, and servos. This allows for precise positioning of components onto the PC boards. Additionally, each station features two placers, which are used to pick up components from the storage bin and feed them onto the conveyor belt. The components are first inspected at the Vision Inspection Station, which is equipped with a high-definition came and LED lighting. In the soldering process, components are soldered onto the circuit board either by reflow or wave soldering. The reflow process is carried out using an infrared reflow oven that heats and cools the board in a matter of minutes. For the wave soldering process, the board is passed through a bath of molten solder and thus all the nodes, pins, and connectors are soldered in a single pass. The soldered components are then tested for any parametric defects using an AOI (automated optical inspection) asset. After passing the inspection, the boards are then passed through a drying oven and tested. As a bonus, MTC2 also features an optional automatic material handling model that helps with the handling of materials, components, and PC boards. In conclusion, MTC 2 is a versatile and advanced PC board assembly and manufacturing equipment that provides an efficient and cost-effective solution for automating the process of PCB production. Through its conveyor-based assembly line, numerous stations, and advanced features, it is able to dramatically improve PCB production efficiency and reduce the costs associated with manually manufacturing printed circuit boards.
