TERADYNE Spectrum 8855e is a high bandwidth testing equipment designed to facilitate the testing of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and other large electronic assemblies. The automated system offers state-of-the-art programmability and testing capabilities in a compact and reliable design. The 8855e features an advanced test unit interface which allows the user to tailor the test automation to their specific requirements. This interface includes comprehensive test programming, input/output control, test data analysis and reporting capabilities. In addition, the machine architecture is modular, providing adaptability and scalability to suit most applications. Spectrum 8855e is powered by three independent mainframes, which enable the tool to maintain its high performance without sacrificing reliability or scalability. The processor core provides the power and speed required for large-scale and mixed component simulations. The primary mainframe is the Control/PCIE Processor which controls mainframe operation, test programming and test sequencing instructions. The Secondary/UUT Processor provides additional computing resources for high-speed test pattern generation and analysis. For the production environment, the Tester Directed Resource Manager enables cell performance and enables test resources to be assigned automatically to improve overall asset performance. The TORADYNE TERADYNE Spectrum 8855e is also equipped with a high-speed bus model which interfaces the mainframes, transmission control networks and peripheral devices. The architecture of the bus equipment also enables multiple test control systems and multiple test modules to be installed in the system, allowing flexibility and scalability for any application. Spectrum 8855e is highly optimized for automotive electronics and microelectronics. It enables high-speed tests on both digital and analog parts, as well as on silicone, ceramic and hybrid components. The unit also supports various communications protocols such as CAN, LIN and SPI, allowing it to perform protocol validation tests. The machine's comprehensive test sequencing environment enables complete control of test patterns and resources to guarantee accurate results. The tool can be operated in a standalone mode, or in a distributed environment using networked computers.
