TEL is a prober, or probing system, used for measuring the electrical characteristics of semiconductor devices. It is a tool used to evaluate the electrical performance of a device during the design and manufacturing processes. It provides an accurate and unbiased assessment that is traceable to the semiconductor device being tested. TOKYO ELECTRON probers enable a range of electrical measurements, including resistance, inductance, capacitance, and transimpedance. To capture this data, the prober uses four Least-Squares Quadratic Algorithms (LSQAs) which are coupled to a series of interdigitated electrodes on the surface of the device being tested. It also includes a scanning electron microscope (SEM) which allows for imaging of the device surface at high magnifications. The probe is also capable of measuring a variety of complex measurements, such as the electrical characteristics of the gate oxide thickness, channel length, leakage current, gate threshold voltage, and access time. It can also be used to measure the dielectric breakdown voltage and current-voltage characteristics of transistors. Additionally, it can measure the capacitance of MCMs (Multi-Chip Modules). TEL / TOKYO ELECTRON is built to be user-friendly and robust. It features an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), a comprehensive learning system, and integrated automation tools. This helps to simplify the measurements for the user, while also ensuring that the measurements are taken accurately and reliably. TEL is available from a range of suppliers, with prices ranging from $250,000 to $2,500,000, depending on the model and features selected. The system is designed for large-scale manufacturing operations and also has a variety of customization options available, allowing users to tailor the prober to their specific needs.
