TEL / TOKYO ELECTRON Precio is a prober, widely used in the semiconductor wafer probing industry, designed to measure and evaluate the electrical characteristics of semiconductor wafers of various sizes. This prober is suitable for the measurement of semiconductor chips, LED chips, and other semiconductor devices and can provide highly accurate voltage and current measurement results in a very short time. This prober utilizes a series of mechanical and electrical components in order to accurately measure electrical characteristics. At the basic level, TEL Precio consists of an electrode unit, an electrical source, a vacuum equipment, a vacuum pressure control system, and a measurement station. The electrode unit contains several probes that when connected to the electrical source can measure the circuits of the wafer. The air-bearing support and vacuum pressure control unit works together to ensure a proper force is applied while measuring the wafer, along with a steady, uniform and consistent measurement environment. The measurement station consists of a computer machine and a measurement unit. The computer tool contains a software package that guides the user in setting up the proper measurement parameters. From this asset, the user can control various parameters, such as measurement range, measurement speed, and software control. This allows the operator to take accurate and reliable measurements in a timely manner. The measurement unit consists of an electrical component that generates currents of various sizes and frequencies. When connected to the electrodes of the wafer, this component delivers the electrical signal necessary to take the desired measurements. TOKYO ELECTRON Precio is capable of measuring many different electrical characteristics of semiconductor processes. These include resistance, capacitance, frequency, and power consumption of the circuits on the chip. Additionally, measurement results which are graphically displayed on screen can aid the operator in understanding the electrical characteristics of the wafer.
