ROSEMOUNT MLT5 is a residual gas analyzer designed for monitoring and controlling the residual gases present in a vacuum system. The device uses laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy and quadrupole mass filter technology in order to measure the concentration of various components in the residual gases. It is a widely used tool in vacuum systems due to its ability to operate quickly and to allow for continuous sampling. MLT5 is a non-laser based system that is composed of an optical head, micro-computer, printer and touch screen display. The optical head consists of an optical path, optical filter, sample chamber and condenser lenses. The optical filter is sandwiched between two slits in order to allow only the specified wavelengths to pass through. The sample chamber is isolated from the environment to prevent external contamination. ROSEMOUNT MLT5 utilizes a patented method for analyzing the residual gases by employing a process of evaporating gases and then analyzing the resulting vapor phase. The vapor phase is then passed through a set of three quadrupole mass filters (QMF). These QMFs generate an ion or molecular current which can then be identified and counted. MLT5 is able to monitor the concentration of a variety of components in the residual gases. These components can be i organics such as nitrogen, oxygen, oxygen-stretched, carbon dioxide and water vapor, as well as inorganics such as carbon monoxide, argon and krypton. ROSEMOUNT MLT5 also provides comprehensive, real-time process control, allowing for improved process monitoring and management. It has a high sampling rate of up to 15 times per second and can be used to monitor a range of vacuum pressures from 10-2 to 50 mBar. User-definable alarm set points and data logging functions can additionally be used. Overall, MLT5 residual gas analyzer is a sophisticated instrument designed for providing a broad range of analytical capabilities for the continuous monitoring and process control of the residual gases in vacuum systems. It has a rapid sampling rate and is compatible with a range of vacuums, making it a reliable and valuable tool.
