APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS / ABI / MDS SCIEX API 3200 Qtrap is a tandem quadrupole mass spectrometer used to analyze complex samples for peptides, proteins, and small organic molecules. It is a high-performance analytical instrument with a wide range of analytical capabilities. ABI API 3200 Qtrap is equipped with an Advanced Segmented Quadrupole (ASQ) analyzer which provides superb sensitivity with a wide mass range and exceptional resolution. The ASQ is designed to efficiently transmit ions and rapidly resolve them into individual molecular species. This allows for fast and precise data acquisition. The spectrometer is also equipped with a triple quadrupole at the interface to the ASQ, which serves as an Ion Trap for the collection of analyte ions. This Triple Quadrupole (TQ) enables the simultaneous acquisition of multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) data points at an increased rate, providing quicker and more comprehensive information about the sample being analyzed. The instrument is also capable of Fast Atom Bombardment (FAB) and Electrospray Ionization (ESI) ion sources for different sample types. The FAB ion sources enables the analysis of non-volatile molecules and the ESI ion source enables the analysis of highly volatile, polar molecules. The API 3200 boasts excellent noise and distortion performance, making it extremely suitable for quantitative analysis. It can also be equipped with different types of detectors including, but not limited to, Channel Photomultiplier Tubes (CPTs) and Multi-Electron Multipliers (MEMs). The multipurpose software running the instrument provides an intuitive user interface for the selection of quantitation methods and the optimization of data acquisition profiles. Additionally, it allows for real-time monitoring of data results in a graphical format, as well as the ability to manipulate data manipulation in real-time to optimize data accuracy.
