APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS / ABI / MDS SCIEX API 4000 Qtrap is a quadrupole-linear ion trap tandem mass spectrometer. It functions through a 3-step process. First, the sample molecules are ionized in the ion source by electron ionization or chemical ionization. Then, a novel triple quadrupole linear ion trap scans the ions, allowing isotope ratios to be measured. Finally, the ions are detected in the mass filter, giving a high-resolution, accurate identification of molecules. ABI API 4000 Qtrap is used to accurately and rapidly detect low and high abundance ions. It has a versatile range of ion sources for different sample types, including thermionic vacuum discharge or gas chromatography to achieve higher sensitivity. It is equipped with a turbo ion spray interface which is helpful for analyzing volatile and non-volatile compounds. MDS SCIEX API 4000 Qtrap includes functions such as Selective Reaction Monitoring/Multiple Reaction Monitoring (SRM/MRM), Enhanced Product Ion (EPI) scanning and Multiplexing, where several experiments can be performed at once. APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS API 4000 Qtrap is designed to detect very low concentrations of targeted compounds, and it can be used to quantify the relative concentrations of analytes in a sample. The Quadrupole-Linear Ion Trap (QLIT) mode of API 4000 Qtrap uses quadrupoles and a linear ion trap to separate and store the ions. Quadrupole-based mass spectrometry uses static electric fields to separate ions based on the mass-to-charge ratio, enabling the measurement of accurate mass for unknown compounds. The linear ion trap provides a fast and efficient storage of ions, allowing tandem mass spectrometry and isotope-ratio measurements. APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS / ABI / MDS SCIEX API 4000 Qtrap provides excellent resolution and sensitivity for ultrasensitive, high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) applications. It has a 1.25 MHz isolation bandwidth, 0.2 sec scan speed, and 1.2 sec (1500 cycle) cycle times for enhanced scan speed and sensitivity. Overall, ABI API 4000 Qtrap quadrupole-linear ion trap tandem mass spectrometer offers a range of capabilities, including high-speed scanning, enhanced product ion scanning, SRM/MRM capabilities and multiplexing capabilities. It also offers excellent resolution and sensitivity for ultrasensitive, high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry applications.
