APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS / ABI / MDS SCIEX API 4000 triple quadrupole mass spectrometer is a compact, tabletop instrument used for sensitive and accurate quantitative analysis of small molecules and other compounds. Its key features include increased sensitivity and selectivity compared to single quadrupole mass spectrometers, simultaneous MRM (multiple reaction monitoring) of up to 10 compounds, and ultra-fast scanning using the Scarab platform. Utilizing a triple quadrupole design enables ABI API 4000 to perform isotope-correction and quantitation of sample analytes. Additionally, its isotope dilution technique further improves accuracy by generating an internal standard from the sample, enabling for more precise quantitation. The device is designed with scalar and stepped cone voltages that allow for isolation and achievement of extremely narrow peak widths for MRM acquisition as well as increased signal intensity and improved signal-to-noise ratio. Furthermore, MDS SCIEX API 4000 is designed with a curved-field reflector that boosts resolution and mass accuracy. APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS API 4000 also contains an ion trap that helps to increase the sensitivity of MRM, allowing for improved quantitation of targets and detection limit of toxicopathological compounds at sub-femtomolar levels. Additionally, its quadrupole triple-stage collision cell operates at both nitrogen and argon gas pressures, helping to improve accuracy of data acquisition. Furthermore, API 4000 has several software applications that its users can access, such as SCIEXTM ChromaTOF™ data acquisition and analysis software and TSQ Quantiva software, which is designed to deliver excellent performance in multiple methodologies across biological and environmental applications. The device can be integrated into LC-MS/MS systems for enhanced quantitation. Its other features include a convenient carrying case, a four-port, pneumatic switching valve and a choice of either an ESI, APCI, or APPI source. APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS / ABI / MDS SCIEX API 4000 can be used in a variety of analytical applications, such as targeted quantitative proteomic and metabolomic assays, along with peptide determination for human, animal, and environmental studies. Moreover, it is well-suited for pesticide residue, food safety testing, drug testing, and drug metabolism studies.
