NICOLET Avatar 360 is a versatile, high performance spectrometer with the ability to collect and analyze a wide range of spectral data. This is accomplished by the use of Fission Detection Quantification (FDIQ) technology, which uses a combination of time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF MS), ion mobility spectrometry (IMS), and quantum cascade laser spectroscopy (QCLS). The TOF MS is instrumental for gathering accurate information about a sample's molecular structure. It is able to identify and quantify molecules within an atmosphere, liquid, or solid sample by measuring the mass of charged particles such as ions and electrons. Additionally, the high resolution of the TOF MS enables it to resolve even small differences in molecular structure or isotopes. The IMS is incorporated into Avatar's design to improve detection of substances in gas and vapor phase. This is accomplished by using an electric field to pull the ions through a gas filled tube, resulting in an ion's velocity being determined and correlated to the mass of the ion. This information can then be used to identify and quantitate components within a sample. The QCLS further enhances Avatar's sampling capabilities as it allows for present electromagnetic radiation to be manipulated within a sample. This adjustment in radiation is instrumental for targeting a sample's emission and absorption lines. Furthermore, QCLS supports Avatar's other components as it can provide a selective absorption of specific chemical components in a sample. Avatar 360 Spectrometer is equipped with all the advanced components necessary for a comprehensive and accurate analysis of any material, and especially for organic and inorganic samples in either liquid or gaseous states.
