The mass analyzer of LTQ Orbitrap is composed of a trap plus a hybrid travel quadrupole into an Orbitrap mass analyzer. The quadrupole acts as a pre-filter for the Orbitrap, allowing it to capture and identify ions with higher accuracy. The Orbitrap operates with high resolution and sensitivity to accurately determine the exact mass and charge state of a sample ion. This allows for the highly selective detection and identification of the analyte under study with unprecedented accuracy and linearity.
