THERMO SCIENTIFIC Q Exactive Plus is a high-performance benchtop LC-MS spectrometer. This mass spectrometer utilizes Orbitrap technology to provide ultra-high resolution accurate-mass (HRAM) capabilities for quantitative and qualitative applications. This LC-MS is composed of four main components: the Quadrupole, the Exactive Ion Trap, the heated electrospray ionization (HESI) and the Orbitrap mass analyzer. The heart of Q Exactive Plus is the Orbitrap Mass Analyzer, an advanced device that rapidly acquires accurate-mass data. This device consists of two nested electrostatic analyzers, an inner and outer one. The outer one has a resolution power of up to 270,000 and operates in an "orbitrap" mode which rotates at a relatively low frequency, while the inner one is always used to provide faster scanning speeds. The subsequent ions created in the Exactive Ion Trap pass through the quadrupole and enter the Orbitrap where they are excited by a radio frequency voltage and are analyzed. The orbitrap mass analyzer is equipped with a heated electrospray ionization (HESI) source, which is an innovative ionization technique that reduces sample co-elution and analyte suppression, ultimately improving data quality and reproducibility. The HESI ion source utilizes a heated spray head that decreases thermal decomposition and increases the ionization of polar compounds. This results in increased selectivity, sensitivity and reproducibility during sample analyses. Proximity-focusing collisions cell technology is an additional advanced feature of THERMO SCIENTIFIC Q Exactive Plus. This technology improves detection sensitivity of low-abundance ion species, enabling higher quality data acquisition. This technology also can reduce matrix effects and improve chromatographic Peak capacity. Q Exactive Plus is a suitable tool for vast array of quantitative and qualitative LC-MS applications.
