WATERS / MICROMASS QTOF 2 is a high performance, quadrupole-time-of-flight (QTOF) mass spectrometer. WATERS QTOF 2 comes with a wide range of features designed to provide maximum sensitivity and reproducible results through increased data throughput. MICROMASS QTOF 2 is equipped with a high-powered quadrupole which provides excellent resolution and accuracy. The low drift of the quadrupole allows for the separation of ions of multiple charge states and the increased resolving power ensures the discernment of isobaric species or compounds with closely overlapping masses. QTOF 2 also includes two ion sources. The first is an electrospray ionization (ESI) source which operates in both positive and negative ion modes. This highly sensitive source allows for the detection of low-abundance species. The second source is an atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI) source, which isoperated in positive ion mode, and is optimized for the detection of more polar compounds. A range of mass analyzer types is available to improve the performance of WATERS / MICROMASS QTOF 2. The collisionally activated dissociation (CAD) source increases the structural information available from compounds without requiring any additional instrumentation. The quadruple-TOF (Q-TOF) mode is a flexible method which utilizes a third harmonic to increase sensitivity and allow for the simultaneous detection of multiple masses. WATERS QTOF 2 also features a host of advanced data analysis options which include peak deconvolution, identification tools, and various different calibration algorithms. The powerful combination of software and hardware allows MICROMASS QTOF 2 to provide the highest levels of confidence in results.
