SEMITOOL SST Photoresist Equipment is a state-of-the-art solution designed for the precision stenciling of microelectronic components. SEMITOOL SST Photoresist Unit works by applying a selectively exposed layer of photoresist to a substrate plate via photo-stenciling. This process is accomplished by exposing the substrate to a high-intensity light source. Depending on the photoresist strength, either an electron beam or an ultraviolet (UV) light source may be used. The light source penetrates the photoresist layer, hardening molecules to the desired pattern on the substrate. To create the stencil, the substrate is passed through a room-up conveyor with a conveyor belt that drives the substrate along the exposure station. Once the photoresist has been exposed, the substrate is developed with a compatible chemical to remove the exposed areas of the photoresist. The areas that were not exposed will remain intact, thus creating the desired pattern on the substrate. After development, the patterned substrate is heated in a furnace to complete the photoresist machine process. The furnace removes the unexposed portions of the photoresist and leaves the desired pattern on the substrate.
