SVG 88 is a photoresist equipment that uses a photoresist-coated metal substrate as a substrate to achieve high resolution patterns and/or small metal lines. 88 system consists of two photoresists: acrylic and polyimide. Photoresist is a plastic material that undergoes a change in its properties when exposed to particular types of light. For SVG 88 unit, the two photoresists are placed together and exposed to UV light, which causes a reaction that increases the adhesion between the two photoresists. This reaction creates a strong bond between the two photoresists, and in turn allows the substrate to be processed into high resolution patterns and/or small metal lines. In order to create the patterns or lines, the metal substrate is placed into a vacuum chamber and exposed to a photo-degradable gas; this gas causes a uniform reaction at the surface of the metal substrate, increasing the adhesion between the photoresists. Then, the substrate is positioned and adjusted using a focused UV light exposure process, which causes the photo-degradable gas to degrade only at the exposed regions of the substrate, leaving the other areas unaffected; this is where the patterns or lines are created, due to the exposure variation. After that, the antimasking and/or antireflection coating is applied on the substrate. This is done to protect the substrate from being affected by the air in the vacuum chamber and to prevent the exposure of the substrate to ambient light. Finally, the substrate is cleaned and it is ready for use. 88 photoresist machine makes possible the creation of machined metal patterns or lines with high resolution, which enables the fabrication of components or parts that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to produce.
