ULTRASONIC SYSTEMS INC / USI Prism Ultra Coat 400 is a photoresist equipment used in the fabrication of printed circuit boards (PCBs). It is composed of two components: a photoresist emulsion and a developer. The photoresist emulsion is typically applied to the PCB with a sprayer. This emulsion consists of an ultra-thin coating of photosensitive material that can be exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. The developer is then used to expose the PCB to the UV light, which causes an interaction between the emulsion and the developer. This interaction causes a chemical reaction to take place, resulting in a permanent alteration of the emulsion. USI Prism Ultra Coat 400 allows for the creation of precise structures with a variety of different geometries, including rectilinear, circular and complex patterns, including holes and lines. Once exposed to the UV light, the photosensitive material is used to create a permanent template for the further processing of the PCB. The intense UV exposure causes a permanent reaction and the exposed material is then removed from the board. This leaves behind a pattern of circuitry etched into the board surface. ULTRASONIC SYSTEMS INC Prism Ultra Coat 400 is also capable of incorporating several different features into the PCB including copper lands, via holes, fiducials and other SMT-related components. The use of Prism Ultra Coat 400 allows for the quick and effective fabrication of straight forward as well as more complex PCBs. The low-cost and fast curing rate makes it the ideal choice for prototypes and production runs. The efficient operation of the system is based on the UV light source, which is usually composed of a number of high powered lamps arranged in a row. The UV light source is necessary for proper exposure of the photoresist material. In addition to this, ULTRASONIC SYSTEMS INC / USI Prism Ultra Coat 400 also contains a built-in processor, which allows for precise control of the exposure time and also allows for the selection of the desired resolution of the etched pattern. The main benefit of using USI Prism Ultra Coat 400 is the high quality resulting from its precision and repeatability. The unit is capable of producing high quality boards with intricate patterns and fine dimensions. Additionally, some manufacturers offer an additional function which allows for the photoresist layer to be partially exposed to the UV light, creating a relief effect which is suitable for adding depth and dimension to normal surface mount technology components. Overall, the use of ULTRASONIC SYSTEMS INC Prism Ultra Coat 400 photoresist machine is a reliable and cost-efficient way to produce high quality printed circuit boards for any application.
