STEAG / MATTSON / AST Helios is a rapid thermal processor (RTP) designed to allow for high speed, high repeatability and low cost thermal processing. It works by rapidly controlling the temperature of a given sample via a series of high-powered halogen lamps, quartz electrodes, and an adjustable heater. AST Helios utilizes a sophisticated digital controller to set the desired temperature profile and ensure that the sample is exposed to accurate and consistent temperatures. This controller uses a PID (Proportional, Integral, and Derivative) algorithm that enables the machine to adjust the sample's temperature with great precision. STEAG Helios can process samples up to 70 x 85mm in size and has a maximum temperature range of 30 to 1400°C. It is capable of reaching temperatures as high as 2000°C, but this is done through a custom-made oven attachment. The RTP has multiple pre-programmed settings for quickly attaining complex temperature profiles. It utilizes a special thermal control chamber to rapidly change the set temperature of the sample. By controlling the flow of gas into the sample chamber the chamber, users can achieve accurate results in a short amount of time. In addition, Helios allows for quick sample loading and unloading. It has a special transport stage that can handle up to 6 wafers with the sample sizes mentioned above. This stage provides automated loading and unloading of the samples, reducing the amount of user intervention needed. MATTSON Helios' high temperature accuracy, fast temperature cycling, and adjustable temperature range make it an ideal tool for numerous processes such as annealing, sintering, diffusion, and polyimide etching. Its automated loading and easy to use interface allow it to be used in both industry and research laboratories. In conclusion, STEAG / MATTSON / AST Helios is a highly precise and repeatable RTP. Its user-friendly design and versatile features make it well suited for a variety of thermal processing applications.
