AMAT / APPLIED MATERIALS Centura Enabler is a reactor designed to enable integrated process control in semiconductor fabrication processes. This equipment provides an automated and integrated environment to facilitate the production of the most advanced wafer processing technologies in the industry. The reactor is primarily used in the preparation of thin-film passivation layers which are used to coat and protect the finished semiconductor devices from various environmental factors. It is an advanced system that works in conjunction with other process tools to monitor, analyze, and maintain the quality of the finished device. AMAT Centura Enabler is composed of two main components. The first component is a PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) unit that enables the deposition of a thin-film passivation layer which is necessary to protect the device from various environmental factors. This PECVD machine is composed of a vacuum chamber that is sealed to prevent contaminants from entering the process. The tool employs a radio frequency (RF) generator to create a plasma, which helps break down process gas molecules into ions and radicals that can react with the exposed surface. The second component is a Control Module which is used to monitor and maintain the process conditions. The Control Module is responsible for all the on-the-fly process analysis, adjustments, and monitoring of the processing parameters.
