AMAT / APPLIED MATERIALS ENDURA Reactor (AMAT ENDURA) is a physical vapor deposition (PVD) equipment specifically designed for the deposition of metal films onto substrates. This PVD system is suitable for use on a variety of materials, including silicon wafers, glass, metals and polymers. APPLIED MATERIALS ENDURA reactor is capable of depositing films that range from 1 to 200 nanometers in thickness. It can be used to deposit a variety of metals, including aluminum, gold, molybdenum, tungsten, nickel and titanium, as well as various alloys. The unit uses an ultra-high vacuum chamber to create a near-perfectly pure source of matter in which the metals will sublime and then deposit onto the substrate. The ultra-high vacuum chamber is kept at a base pressure of 5x10-7 torr. Gas is introduced to the chamber that is passed through a hot zone heater, which causes the molecules of gas to separate into atoms. These atoms are ionized using a plasma source, and then directed across the substrate by an electromagnetic field. As the ions strike the substrate, they aggregate and form layers of the desired metal film onto the surface. The machine is also equipped with a turbomolecular pump that maintains the high vacuum in the chamber, providing an optimum environment for the deposition process. An eddy magnet can be used to filter out particles that may impair the purity and quality of the material being deposited. The reactor is also equipped with laser interferometers and a variety of process diagnostics systems, as well as a full suite of software that allows for precise control over deposition parameters. ENDURA reactor is a powerful and precise PVD tool that is ideally suited for the deposition of metal films, including high-performance alloys, onto a wide range of substrates. Its ability to deposit films with precise control of thickness and composition makes it an invaluable tool for manufacturing in numerous industries, from microelectronics and semiconductors to solar cells, displays and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS).
