AMAT / APPLIED MATERIALS Olympia (AMAT Olympia) is an enhanced plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) reactor designed for the industrial deposition of thin film coatings and materials. APPLIED MATERIALS Olympia reactor features an innovative inductively coupled deposition process that enables the deposition of materials onto surfaces in a single step. This process is capable of achieving high levels of quality and repeatability. Olympia features a cylindrical vacuum chamber, and the high-density plasma source is located at the bottom. The plasma source uses a combination of gas pressure, heat, and voltage to generate the plasma and for the reactants to diffuse and react. The reactants are transported to the substrate by a gas stream, which is then mixed with the reaction species from the plasma. The chamber design includes a three-sided window for complex multi-layer coatings, as well as multiple side and rear seal ports for sidewall etching and rapid re-deposition of thin films. This feature allows the chamber to conduct multiple processes such as etching, deposition, and oxidation in one cycle. The chamber floor also houses the electromagnetic coil for inductively coupled deposition.
