ASM Eagle XP EmerALD (Empirically Advanced Limit Device) is a research-level, medium-sized nuclear fission reactor designed to provide isotope, metals, and neutrons for various research tasks. Its design is based on a new type of active core material, a powerful, highly active, and thermally regulated fuel-metallic alloy. The core contains fuel pellets of uranium-dioxide, uranium-zirconium-dioxide, and europium-dioxide and is surrounded by a thorium-stakes moderator. This core is encased in a stainless steel reactor vessel and is regulated by a sophisticated control equipment. The reactor vessel is surrounded by radiation and thermal shielding, which protect the environment from radiation exposure. The reactor is equipped with a safety interlock system and other safety devices to ensure safe operation in the event of an emergency. The reactor has been designed to meet the safety demands of nuclear safety authorities and has passed safety review processes such as the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Cooling is provided by a thermal-fluid loop connected directly to the core. This loop prevents over-heating of the core by transferring the heat to a series of cooling pans during periods of high peak operation. The reactor also utilizes an open-loop air-cooling unit that circulates cold air around the vessel, dissipating excess heat. ASM Eagle is designed to accommodate a variety of experiments, and is equipped with a range of instrumentation including neutron detectors, pressure sensors, and instrumentation to measure temperatures and pressures. In addition, the reactor is equipped with a remote data acquisition machine, allowing monitoring of the core status and experiment results. Eagle XP EmerALD is an excellent option for various research application as it provides reliable performance, safe operation, and cost-effective operations. The unique design of the reactor gives reliable isotopic production and can be used for both neutron irradiation and radiochemical studies. It also offers efficient operation, with excellent accuracy and repeatability in the monitoring of reactor performance.
