ASM EPSILON 3200 reactor is a state-of-the-art reactor designed for heavy water moderated research reactors and industrial applications. It has an excellent thermal efficiency and robust design, providing reliable and efficient operations. The 3200 is a pressurized water reactor, with a two-part, high-pressure, high-temperature containment vessel. The core is designed with an attitude of "safety first" and features advanced safety features. The reactor includes an integrated core and refueling equipment, operating on a high integrity fuel cycle. EPSILON 3200 reactor comprises of a core vessel made of steel with provisions for in-core instrumentation and fuel assemblies. The fuel assemblies are made up of cylindrical rods of uranium oxide that are vertically located inside the core. The core is cooled by a pressurized loop of heavy water that flows between the coolant inlet and outlets of the reactor core. The primary heat transport system is further divided into two loops. The primary loop carries heated water in which heat is removed, generating steam in a turbine generator set, while the secondary loop contains coolant in which the heat is transferred from the primary loop. The core is surrounded by a robust containment building that is designed to protect the reactor core from external radiation and to dissipate any internal activities. The containment building is made out of reinforced concrete containing steel framework and can be equipped with leak detection and filtration systems. Additionally, ASM EPSILON 3200 reactor comes with a distributed control unit (DCS) with built in safety systems, such as fault detection, machine integrity monitoring, emergency response, and safe shutdown. The unit includes safety features of both the reactor and external systems that can be activated in case of an emergency. These include, but are not limited to, the emergency power tool, reactor protection systems, radiation monitoring, and venting. The safety systems are designed to ensure safe operation throughout the life of the reactor. In addition, the reactor has been extensively tested and is certified to hold up to its maximum designed level in seismic activity. Some of the advantages of EPSILON 3200 reactor include its modular and expandable design, high reliability, efficient thermal operations, and compatibility with various types of fuel. The reactor can also produce steam at a temperature of up to 600°C, allowing a wide range of industrial applications. As such, the 3200 reactor is an optimal solution for a number of applications.
