JEL / JUSUNG Eureka 3000 is a pressurized water reactor (PWR) designed and developed as a prototype by JEL Engineer Co. Ltd. It is intended for use in a wide range of climates and is capable of reliably and securely providing the electricity needs of communities, as well as commercial and industrial operations. JEL Eureka 3000 was designed with safety and efficiency paramount in mind. It features a double containment reactor pressure vessel (RPV) sporting high pressure and high temperature, and all safety components of the reactor equipment are designed to the highest standards. The design also includes an optimum number of control rods that are displaced in the event of an emergency, ensuring safety and reliability. The primary components of the reactor include the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV), Steam Generators (SG) that generate steam for driving a turbine, and the main component of a nuclear power plant, the Nuclear Reactor Core (NRC). The core of the reactor is composed of fuel rods, control rods and guidance rods. The fuel rods contain enriched uranium, while the control rods regulate and control the neutron flux, and the guidance rods ensure the proper placement of the fuel and control rods in the reactor core. JUSUNG Eureka 3000 is a three-loop system using a two-circuit feedwater-moisture separator, a primary and secondary Circulating Water Unit and an Emergency Core Cooling Machine. The Circulating Water Tool keeps the reactor components at the proper temperatures during steady-state operation by pumping water to the core. During Period-of-Operation, the Circulating Water Asset is designed to circulate water in either the primary or secondary loop. The Emergency Core Cooling Model (ECCS) is designed to provide rapid and reliable core cooling during off-normal conditions. The ECCS features components such as depressurizing piping, valves, pumps and tanks, and a safety injection equipment that uses PWR coolant in order to bring the reactor pressure to a point where emergency core cooling is possible.
